When a single payday won’t cover what you’re facing — a major repair, a medical bill, consolidating what you owe — an installment loan spreads the cost into equal monthly payments over a fixed term. That predictability is the whole point: the same amount comes out each month until the balance is clear, so you can plan around it.
Skip the storefront. One short online form is all it takes to get started, and we’ll work to pair you with a licensed lender whose terms suit your budget. There’s no charge to use us and no obligation to accept any offer — but you’ll always see the rate, the monthly payment, and the full payoff total laid out before you agree to anything.
Step 1 — Submit your details
Fill out the secure form day or night. A few minutes covers it.
Step 2 — We find your match
Your information goes to licensed lenders in our network, and we work to connect you with one who can structure a repayment plan around your situation. No match for an installment loan? We’ll point you toward an option that may fit better.
Step 3 — Review and receive
Once a lender approves you and you’ve agreed to the terms, the money is typically deposited by the next business day.
The defining feature is structure: instead of repaying everything on your next payday, you pay down the loan in scheduled, equal amounts across months or years. California backs that structure with real consumer protections on mid-size loans:
On any loan from $2,500 up to (but under) $10,000, the rate can’t exceed 36% plus the federal funds rate. Before this cap took effect in 2020, the state found more than half of such loans carried APRs over 100%.
Those same loans must run at least 12 months, so no lender can compress a large balance into a crushing short payoff.
There’s no penalty for paying early — clear the balance ahead of schedule and you simply stop paying interest.
Lenders are required to report your payment history to a major credit bureau, which means steady on-time payments can actively strengthen your credit.
These protections come from California’s Fair Access to Credit Act and are overseen by the Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI). The trade-off to stay alert to: stretching a loan over a long term shrinks the monthly payment but grows the total interest you’ll pay. Always read the total-cost figure, not just the comfortable monthly number.
Installment loans come in two forms. An unsecured loan rests entirely on your income and credit — nothing of yours is pledged. A secured loan is backed by collateral (a vehicle, for instance), which lowers the lender’s risk and can make approval easier or the rate lower if your credit is thin. The catch with secured borrowing is the obvious one: miss enough payments and you can lose whatever you put up. If a lender steers you toward collateral, be sure you understand exactly what’s on the line before signing.
You’re never guessing at the cost. Rate, monthly payment, and total repayment are on the table before you commit — not buried in fine print after.
A thin credit file isn’t an automatic no. Plenty of lenders in our network look hardest at whether your income supports the payments. We still won’t dangle “guaranteed approval” at you, because that promise is a hallmark of the operators worth avoiding.
No cost to you, ever. Our matching service is free; lenders pay to be in the network, not you.
Proof you’re of legal age and living in California
Income you can document — recent pay stubs or bank statements work
A valid photo ID (California driver’s license, U.S. passport, or permanent resident card)
Proof of your California address, such as a recent utility or phone bill
An active checking account for deposit and repayment
This is the right tool for a sizeable, planned cost you’d rather not drain savings for — consolidating several high-rate balances into one lower payment, covering a serious car or home repair, or handling a large medical bill. For a tiny, one-week gap a smaller short-term loan may be simpler; for anything substantial, the capped rate and longer runway usually make an installment loan the more sensible buy.
